Loss Of A Great Social Media Marketer

I was saddened to hear of the sudden loss of Trey Pennington. Trey is well known in the social media marketing community and had built up quite a following in the last few years because of his willingness to share his knowledge with the wider community.

I believe I met Trey on Twitter, and when I had heard that he was attending ConvergeSouth in Greensboro, NC last year, I invited him to speak at the Greensboro Social Media Club the night before the conference. He graciously accepted and he gave a really great speech about social media, and was very kind to stay around after the speech and answer questions.

Next day at the ConvergeSouth conference I sat down with Trey over lunch, and we had a wide ranging conversation on his background, his adventures in social media land, and various topics. Trey was at the conference for his own education, and he was having fun just listening to the speakers. I really enjoyed our conversation, was impressed with Trey and how he was living life to the full by using social media.

I'm sad to hear of his death, and give my condolences to his family.
