Pharma & Health Care Social Media Focus On Data For 2010

Things have really changed in health care and pharma social media in the last few years. 3-4 pharma companies are blogging, 16 are tweeting, the FDA is reviewing the possibility of pharma using social media.  Patient and consumer communities are exploding, and there's even enough of a bubble to see some of the communities close. Dose of Digital tracks the changes with their pharma social media wiki.

Physician communities are changing the industry, Sermo at the head of the pack is proving, older, and more experienced physicians don't have time to talk, but they do have time to browse and comment socially online.

What interests me most about the burgeoning health care web 2.0 world is the development of data tools for consumer health care management. Google Health, Microsoft's HealthVault, and sites like Patientslikeme.com give consumers to manage their health data, share information with other patients, and in the process pick up tips and advice on how to manage their own health or family members.

I'm excited about these data developments, the health care industry is helping to push the envelope when it comes to giving customers tools for tracking and managing their health. These online health data tools are valuable for the individual, but when individuals can share and aggregate data from the crowd even greater value can be given to the individual and community as a whole.

Take some time to explore how health care is inventing some new ideas and technologies that I'm sure will affect the rest of the social media industry, use the pharma social media wiki to explore.
