Mack Collier’s Review Of The Wal-Mart Checkout Blog

Mack Collier writes a review of the Wal-Mart Checkout blog. He dives into the Wal-Mart blog's volume of posts for the month of April, only seven posts, I'd be curious to know about previous month's postings?

More seriously Collier identifies that the multiple author blog is not responding to comments. One of the reasons I am involved with the volunteer project to review all of the Fortune 500 blogs is to discover what patterns are emerging across corporate blogs in the Fortune 500. Successful outreach programs and following up with comments do appear to be lacking on a number of the blogs. Perhaps once we have review all of the Fortune 500 business blogs we’d be able to give an estimate of the percentage of companies conducting outreach, responding to comments, and linking to other blogs in posts.

Mack Collier gives the quality of content a good rating, however he thought there was a lot of room for improvement, and he made a number of suggestions.

He rounds off the review by giving the blog 62 out of a possible 100. Collier uses four elements to grade the blog out of 100; Content 35, Comments 35, Posting Schedule 15, and Sidebar elements 15. I liked the simplicity of the grading scheme; and I found the sidebar element a really great idea, one that I will consider using for future reviews of corporate blogs.

While Mack Collier did not review the Wal-Mart blog for the Fortune 500 business blogging wiki, he is promoting a service of reviewing blogs at the end of his post. I am going to put a link to the review on the study. Mack Collier has also reviewed the Kodak blog and the Dell blog previously.
