A lot of marketing is about distribution, so whenever I walk into a movie theater I always shake my head at the lost sales opportunities. If I’ve just seen a movie I enjoyed, my next step would be to purchase a DVD. The industry has so far been mainly reluctant to release a movie in theaters and a DVD at the same time. Maybe if DVD’s were only sold through movie theaters until general release, the theaters and the moviemakers would be able to generate more profit on the same visit. While also satisfying the customer by letting them take home their DVD to share with the rest of their family and friends.
