Non-Profit Marketing In Boston
January 12, 2006
Tonight was the kick-off event for the non-profit shared interest group of the Boston Chapter of the American Marketing Association. As President of the local chapter, I was there to introduce the group to the chapter, and the new SIG. Donnie Baker, the chapter’s Director of the Non-Profit SIG had done a lot of work to put the event together. We had two speakers from Cone and Minelli. But the main feature for the evening was to split up the assembled group of non-profit marketing people into tables to discuss how they might put together the non-profit marketing.
Donnie did a great job of describing the scarcity of study on the subject of non-profit marketing, and how some non-profits are even nervous about using the term marketing in their efforts to raise money or get their message out to their audience. I thought the event was a great success we did a rough count at the end of the evening on the number of people interested in helping to volunteer with the SIG and probably over fifteen people must have sign up to help to put on events, and organize a mentorship program between marketers and non-profits.
