Yahoo! is now the object of a love triangle between Google & Microsoft. Yahoo! appears to prefer one admirer, but the advances of a rain soaked beau may be too hard to repulse.
In the meantime while we wait to see who will jump in bed with whom. James from Getting More Visitors reminds us that it is still worthwhile thinking about optimizing your website for Yahoo! Search results, in his post, "How to Rank in Yahoo!"
One tip I " now don't" liked like from James' list was:
"If you want to get a high rank on Yahoo, try dropping your link throughout Yahoo’s network of sites. Yahoo seems to place more importance on links coming from sites they own. It’s both easy and free to put your links on Yahoo Answers and Delicious. (One idea is to sign up for 2 free Yahoo accounts and with one account post a question related to your niche. With the other account, answer the question and drop your URL in the reply. With this method, I was ranked in Yahoo with my site in less than 24 hrs.)"
I think the tip is a good one because you are contributing to your own social book marking list, and asking a valuable question to the community.
4/19/08 Update: I just read this tip again and realized I had not read the tip very thoroughly the first time around. I thought James was suggesting you use Yahoo Answers to ask questions that included a question with a valuable link. Signing up for two accounts, asking a question with one account, and then answering with another is a case of astroturfing, something that I would not recommend.
Hat tip: Thanks to the anonymous person who made a comment about spamming.
