Chris Turner commented on my recent post about collecting social contacts virtually, where I suggested the process of social networking was similar to collecting baseball cards or stamps during childhood. In the his comment, Chris said,
"Collecting social media connections (relationships) has tangible value as well and are actually more tangible than baseball cards. The relationships offer the opportunity for professional growth and personal development. Ideas stretch people."
There is definitely more value in building relationships than collecting stamps.
Chris went onto suggest that in the future people will trade contacts, or rather blog posts,
"Who knows, maybe one day in the future somebody will offer me two John Cass blog posts and a highlighted version of Strategies and Tools for Corporate Blogging in exchange for my Ernie Banks card!"
