Laura Lake at about.com's marketing section suggests there is not very much research on word of mouth marketing in a recent article about word of mouth marketing research. I was a little shocked to read Laura suggest this, as I’ve seen quite a lot over the years. Dr. Walter Carl, a professor of communications at Northeastern University is an expert on word of mouth marketing research. He and I collaborated on the Backbone Media and Northeastern University Business Blogging Success Study in 2006. Walter has put together to a bibliography on word of mouth marketing research that is very valuable to anyone researching or involved in the practice.
