Musings On Social Media

Developing a social media or web 2.0 strategy today is not about jumping onboard the latest social media technology. Second Life for instance, might seem cool to one company executive, but the real market research question any decision maker should ask themselves is will connecting with people in Second Life reach enough of my audience to justify the costs of joining that social media technology? With so many social media technologies to choose from, it’s not just a matter of getting involved with everything but evaluating where an organization should participate. At the same time while its immensely important to conduct outreach within social media technologies; developing something unique for an organization on their own website that incorporates social media technologies is important for a number of reasons: credibility, transparency, and search engine marketing to name a few.

  • Blogging is all about starting a conversation with another individual. I don't mind if someone from a company posts useful and relevant information on my blog. But that information has to be within the context of an existing conversation. I reserve the right to delete or edit content and links from comments on this blog if I think you are just making a sales pitch or trying to increase your SEO standing.
