Is Advertising Dead?

Some would suggest that advertising is dead, and that social media and public relations are the only way to go. I would not stop advertising just yet. I know from my experience over the years that some form of advertising works, its all about targeting the right audience, and consistency. Even pay per click ads can improve their ROI over time if you keep them in the same spot. In some ways social media works in the same way, consistent development of valuable content is one sure way to build relationships and value for your audience. Social media though by definition is not advertising, advertising is all about getting your message to an audience with no real feedback loop, social media gives your audience the ability to respond quickly and easily.
