How-To Respond To Blog Comment Posts That Are Sales Spam

Someone recently posted a comment on my blog that was very sales orientated and although related to the topic of a post, was purely focused on driving traffic to that person's website. I emailed the person back, and suggested they try again, only this time write a comment post that provided valuable content to the readers and me. That way I'd learn from their expertise and also the rest of the audience. Instead of shrinking the person did as I asked and posted another helpful comment, which I published.

Guidelines

  • Blogging is all about starting a conversation with another individual. I don't mind if someone from a company posts useful and relevant information on my blog. But that information has to be within the context of an existing conversation. I reserve the right to delete or edit content and links from comments on this blog if I think you are just making a sales pitch or trying to increase your SEO standing.
